Malawi’s President Professor Peter
Mutharika on Friday expressed anger on Mulhako WA Lhomwe members who fail to fulfill their pledges.
Mutharika vomited the anger during Mulhako WA Lhomwe fundraising dinner at dance held at Bingu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the capital City
President said that such people do not have space among the Lhomwe’s. He also called upon Lhomwe’s to support group with all the resources they have.
“But allow me to decry the tendency by some people, well-meaning I guess, that make pledges but they do not fulfill them,”
”Please fulfill your commitment. It is just the right thing to do. Otherwise, it inconveniences and defeats the essence of fundraising. Let us support the grouping with as much resources as we can afford,” said Mutharika.
Mutharika added that, ‘We established our cultural group not to make us pompous, but to make us a confident people. Wherever we live and work, there is more wisdom in being humble and confident without looking down upon ourselves.”
The Malawi leader, Mutharika also called upon the Lhomwe people to be self- assertive and confident people capable of doing wonders.
“We do not claim, and we should never claim, to be more important than others. God created us equal and we are all Malawians. But that we must be self- assertive and confident people capable of
doing wonders like any other race on earth,”
”And this is what I want every tribal grouping in this country to feel like,” said Peter Mutharika.
Mulhako Wa Lhomwe, a cultural grouping was formed by the former President the late Professor Bingu Wa Mutharika with the aim of preserving the Lhomwe culture in the country.
