Congolese Refugee Dies In Malawi After Taking ‘Kachasu’ On Empty Stomach

After successfully escaping tribal and civil war in Democratic Republic Congo (DRC), Kimongo Kalambo, 47, has died in Malawi after drinking a local bear ”Kachasu” on an empty stomach at Dzaleka Refugee Camp.

Dowa District Police Public Relations Officer, Richard Kaponda confirmed the development to a
local media.

He said that the deceased ever returned home for three consecutive days when he went on beer drinking spree.

“The deceased [a refugee] was staying alone in his house within the camp. He was a heavy drunkard and he disappeared from his house for three days prior to the date of his death .This indicates that the deceased was drinking beers without taking food,”said Kaponda.

Postmortem conducted by Dowa Police and District Hospital revealed that the death occurred due to drinking beer on an empty
stomach.
