Malawi Ex-Justice Minister Kasambara Slapped 13-years Jail Term

The Malawi High Court in Lilongwe on Tuesday sentenced Former Justice Minister Ralph Kasambara to 13 years imprisonment with hard labour for conspiracy to murder former budget director Paul Mphwiyo.

The court also sentenced Kasambara’s co-accused Pika Manondo and McDonald Kumwembe to 15 years imprisonment for the first count of attempted murder and 11
years for the second count of conspiracy to murder.

The sentences with run consecutively meaning that in total Manondo and Kumwembe will serve 26 years imprisonment with hard labour.

The Defense asked for bail in view of the fact that the three appealed against conviction.
