Lake Malawi Swallows Two Young Men

Two Malawian young men from Lilongwe district have died after being swallowed by the Lake Malawi, Police has Confirmed.

Salima Police Public Relations Officer, Gift Chitowe has identified the deceased persons as Maxwell Kaliati, 27, and George Nselema, 21.

He said that said the duo failed
to swim after jumping into deep waters of the lake at Senga-bay in the district.

According to Chitowe, the group upon arrival in Salima, the lakeshore district went straight to Baobab Lodge, where they hired
a private boat from one of the villagers to use on the Lake.

“When they went into deep waters, the two decided to jump into the Lake without apparent reason, where they failed to swim
to the shores of the Lake hence drowned to death,” said Chitowe.

Maxwell Kaliati hailed from Kuntaja Village, Traditional Authority Kuntaja in Blantyre
while George Nselema hailed from Area 49 in Lilongwe.
