Malawi President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika on Wednesday joined thousands of Malawians in burying the late Senior Chief Kabudula at Kabudula Admarc in Lilongwe.
Speaking on behalf of President Mutharika, Dr Hetherwick Ntaba, who is also ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for Central Region, said the Malawi leader learnt with great shock about the death of Senior Chief Kabudula.
Ntaba said late Kabudula was a polite and God fearing-traditional leader who treated everyone with love and consideration.
He then advised the royal family to endorse the rightful heir to avoid chieftaincy wrangles.Ntaba said government was concerned with the increase of chieftaincy wrangles, which he said, derail the country’s development.
He said court injunctions are no solution to such incidents saying chieftaincy is about blood and the Head of State only approves the names of the rightful heir the royal family submits to government.
Senior Chief Kabudula assumed the chieftaincy in September 1998 and was elevated to Senior Chief in March 2016 by President Mutharika. He was officially installed Senior Chief on July 24 2016.
